Heh-and I would respond to their bringing up Draco's hungry look by pointing out he looks hungry *before* Umbridge mentions Crucio. He's just hoping to see Harry punished.:-)
But yeah, it just is clear that the spell is being used differently with these emotional teenagers. Iirc, Harry's been saying it would be great to Crucio Snape since he learned about the curse, and there he is throwing it at him in HBP. But I think it's still very much like Harry jumping Draco on the Quidditch Pitch trying to "punch every inch of him he could reach."
