And I can see Snape not liking it, either. Friends with Regulus, but treated condescendingly by the family, and adding it to his resentment of Sirius and James. Since, of course, the Potters are of the same social class, from what I can gather.
The books are coming off as more than just 'racist', they're showing up the class system too.
