It's not really grating, it's just that I notice her faults more than other people's (except Snape) and I'm less forgiving of her in discussions than, say, the Harmonians. But I'm not sure how much of it is my going, "Eeeesh, that's not good," when thinking about it and how much is a reaction to Harmonians that call, "Ron is a teenage boy," an excuse but will say in the next breath that it's all right for Hermione to have disfigured Marietta for life. And also, Hermione's become less like me as we get further into the series -- I'm more bleeding heart than she is.
