Absolutely agree on the Sectumsempra thing. The other weird thing about is that it's so sloppy about exactly what everyone knows too. Like, do Harry's friends even know how the fight started? Ginny seems to know just enough to give her a reason to justify everything--she knows Malfoy started to say Crucio. But there's no discussion of Malfoy as a person leading up to the fight, which you'd think would be of some interest--I mean after all these years if I heard Draco was crying in the bathroom saying what he was saying that would interest me quite a bit. And yet it's like Malfoy only exists as always to be the jerk who deserves it and gets Harry into trouble when it's totally not fair. Not that I'm ignoring that Malfoy did throw a Crucio but Jesus, you'd think this would lead to some discussion of the bad things that can come of their attitudes and instead there's nothing except OMG HOW DARE U NOT BE ON HARRY'S SIDE!! Immediately JKR's all about how everything is unfair for Harry again--he can't play Quidditch! He's got detention! With Snape! Which occasionally involves hearing something about his dad! And keeps him from his girlfriend! And Pansy's making him out to be some kind of bad guy! He can barely enjoy winning the Quidditch cup again, having a new girlfriend, holding onto his precious book and not getting in any real trouble!
