Thanks for posting! I like that you mentioned something that hadn't been, but has always been a bit obvious...the way Salazar Slytherin sounds so obviously foreign compared to the more obviously Anglo-Saxon names of the others. Why is that? After OotP I did a post about how the Slytherins were beginning to sound like Jewish stereotypes--by which I didn't mean they were supposed to be standing in for Jews at all, just that the collection of traits that made up the fictional villainous Jew seemed like the same ones that went into Slytherins. And ultimately I felt the same way at the end of the book, as if Slytherins were the ones who weren't Christians or something, so might be capable of earthly loves and obsessions but couldn't share in the real bounty that everyone else did.
