I can't dislike Harry, because I've never been emotionally abused by my aunt and uncle.
But then Harry can't dislike Draco because he's never been brought up by a Deatheater.
Hermione can't dislike Pansy, because she's never been in a marginalised/victimised house.


I think in a way, I am completely over the (so-called) arguments per se, because I've become so desensitized to people trying to second-guess me to make themselves feel better. I mean, what a laugh. Insinuations about your sexuality, your social awareness, your mental state, your psychological record... these are such blatant straw-men I don't even feel like arguing against them anymore. I am just annoyed they exist - that they have to exist. My fandom experience has been an endless spring of raving paranoid bitterness lately (okay, I think I also do have a complex), because it's not just sad that the Other is such an easy target, the enemy, a threat to the point where even reactions to fictional characters have to be judged and neutralised via ridiculization/vilification?
