I'm still not sure how I feel about our little Tolkien-Sue either.:-) You don't want to go too far in the direction of Faramir being the black sheep of the family, like he grew up feeling unloved, because it makes it seem like he's like Prince Herbert in Swamp Castle in Monty Python in the Holy Grail or something. He just wants to be a choreagrapher and Dad wants a soldier or something.
I may wind up really thinking Farmir did better in the TEs. It's not perfect, but the additions of the EEs sometimes fuss with him without really improving him. I was really pleased with newbies I talked to after ROTK by the way they seemed to see a lot of the best things from Canon!Faramir even with the changes, so I'm thinking maybe the best things the movies do with him is leave him alone as much as possible and just let him be.
