Urgh! Yes, I know just what you mean-and it somehow does seem silly to get this way about a book of all things. Though in a way it's also almost more important that people learn to speak more accurately when they're talking about politics, because otherwise you just get people yelling at each other. It *matters* if you're accurate.
But then, I guess it does also drive me crazy even when I'm talking about fiction to have people say things that just are not true, or slip in their interpretation of events as if they are fact.
