I was reading this discussion on [livejournal.com profile] reenka's lj that got into...well, I think this part took off from the idea of what's "normal" in the WW and different houses and that made me think about cunning )
Two posts ago we got into an exchange about an old thread on FAP entitled "HP Structure Demands More Draco," and it's made me think about how characters tend to work in the series and how that may or may not predict what they will do. If that made sense, come along with me! )
I don't know what I really want to say here...it just occurred to me to ask have I ever mentioned how much I like Peter Pettigrew? )

Oh my god, Elijah Wood and Billy Boyd went to see Avenue Q. {{EJW and BB}} Do these guys have great taste or what? Apparently they stood in line for their tickets like regular people, went backstage and "couldn't have been more uncelebrity-like." As a prize for being so sweet, they were the first celebrities ever allowed to play with the puppets. How I wish I had a picture of them playing with puppets.

They are hereby forgiven for the night at Scores.

This weekend this lj was gifted with the most incredible comments! I feel completely greedy to be asking for more, but we at the end we got into a subject that I think is important to anybody who likes Draco as a character which is...are we all just completely fooling ourselves and setting ourselves up for disappointment? So I thought I'd just set down here in a separate post why I think my thoughts on Draco, invested with personal agenda that they may be, do come to me from canon. It seemed like I might as well make it a separate post.

The search for canonical reasons for a better Draco... )
I was having this whole thought process involving HP today, then I found out a person I work with and I went to summer camp together and my head exploded. Since I'm sure it was fascinating, I will try to reconstruct it.

Hmmmm...I knew it eventually got around to the Slytherins and Draco as usual, but it wasn't the focus.

Anyway, it started with a discussion in [livejournal.com profile] hp_essays that asked who was the Peter Pettigrew of the current generation. That got me thinking about the whole cross-generational thing in HP anyway, and how it probably is one of the things I like the most about HP in general...

Fathers and Sons part 2, only they don't really have to be fathers and sons... )
