If Draco resembles Regulus in terms of personality, and if there was indeed a strong connection between Snape and Regulus, that adds more layers to the complexity of the Draco/Snape relationship. Only time (and Book 7) will tell.
Now I'm getting pictures of the Snape and Draco dynamic being much like the Sirius and Harry dynamic. With all the baggage that carries with it. Sirius had been accused of confusing Harry with lost friend James, for instance, could Draco (or friends outside the relationship) see Snape as occasionally confusing Draco with lost friend Regulus?
If Snape sees similarities between Regulus and Draco, he might be able to connect to Draco on a more visceral level, and if Snape is ESG!, getting around Draco seeing him AK Dumbledore, he might hold out hope that Draco could be brought around to Dumbledore's side. In any way, if the relationship is anything like the Sirius & Harry relationship, it puts a whole 'nother layer on the Spinners End vow: Snape (!) acting as Sirius might if Harry was in a similar situation...
And, will this bring Snape to the same ultimate place as Sirius?
