I consider myself an upfront, what-you-see-is-what-you-get sort of person - I bet that's why you despise Dumble so much.
Yeah – Dumbledore's a right sneaky bastard as well, isn't he? Heh! :D
But with him it's the way he uses & abuses his power that sets my teeth on edge, not his Machiavellian tendencies – which is fairly normal behavior for anyone in a leadership position. Dumbledore is supposed to represent this Wise Old Man archetype, but he's made some astoundingly bad decisions and indulged in distinctly unwise behavior – which has directly affected the Wizarding World for the worse. (The Tom Riddle pensieve memories in HPB are a case in point.)
Whereas I get so irritated with Lucius' Machiavellian tendencies because they're a front – he isn't that powerful, he's not the man in charge.
