I haven't seen the movie, unfortunately, but I've read the first two books in the trilogy (bought the entire series in hardcover for 5$ in Moscow. Yay, cheap, though badly written, entertainment) and, frankly, felt as though most rational beings would hesitate between Light and Dark, mainly because the difference between the two sides isn't that one is good and the other evil, but that both are equally ambiguous when it comes to morality. The Dark at least admits to the ambiguity. Both sides are motivated in identical ways, and both desire to achieve "the greater good;" the Dark is simply willing to admit to the occasional necessity of sacrifice.
But then, it's been 2 years since I've read Night Watch, and all I clearly is the "tornado" plot.
