This is why I never look at things in terms of black/white, good/bad, or any of the other convenient opposites that we humans tend to create to make things less difficult to understand. If someone is doing what he or she feels to be right, then he or she is doing all that can be expected of him or her. If Snape killed Dumbledore because he felt it was what he needed to do, then so be it. I do not think it would have been ethical for him to give up his life for Dumbledore. After all, he did consent to an Unbreakable Vow.
