Ah, this post makes me all nostalgic, longing back to my years of film studies, when we'd watch obscure films so much we'd almost forget what it was like at a regualr cinema. :D Maybe I should join one of those film clubs again?
Heh, I didn't remember it until reading your referring the story, but I actually tried to read
The man who laughed
when I was a teenager and in the middle of my
Les Misérables
-fangirling phase. But I never managed to read more than the first chapters. Same with
Travailleurs du Mer
, only, I think I read half the first book, there, but it made even less of an impression. And yet I would list Hugo as my favourite author, because obviously, "he'd written the fantastic
Les Misérables
and
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
." I'm kind of curious about giving those two a try now, though.
