That's totally what I realized how I was voting--it's an emotional reaction. And the defenses are emotional. The few times in the comments where people argued with others I think that was even more clear. Like, it's not just, "Snape was stupid for listening to Sirius," it's "Snape was STOOPID for listening to Sirius! What an idiot! He deserves to die!"
I can't always say it's just who you identify with because there are people who see the person they hate in a scene as being the victim...but still it's what your emotional reaction is to the scene, because most of these are a mix-up. But then, that's honestly what HP fandom runs on so much because JKR's constantly writing scenes with more than one bad guy and leaving it up to fans of the different characters to argue over who was right. Hell, I know that from constantly fighting over the Buckbeak incident where yeah, Draco does something stupid, but so does Hagrid--Hagrid is not the brilliant teacher victimized by the eighth grader who didn't listen for 10 seconds.
