Yeah, I couldn't quite see what the point be to his being Hitler if that were the case since obviously Hitler wasn't brought up in any sort of situation like this so how would it make him look better? Even if somebody knew certain biographical details unless it's Hitler and specifically defending his own views on what he did...I'm not seeing it.
Still, yeah--the homophobia thing (not having read it myself) seems like more one of those places where his real beliefs might be coming out, even with so many other parts of the story being obviously didactic. It just seems like the whole book (which I think was originally a short story) was sort of written with a philosophical premise as its base, which is totally different than things like HP or LOTR. In those stories the morality plays a big part, but it's not just all about that. Actually, that's why in reading the essay I swear Ender's Game sounds like fanfic.
