This is something I often wonder about, the effects of movies on writing and how the writer visualizes what's going on, but I've never been able to come up with anything more sophisticated than movie-writing being based on scenes and old fashioned writing being a bit more flexible with exposition and transitions and stuff like that. I think you have a good point here but I'm not sure of the extent to which the pared down writing style is caused by movie influences or just...something about modern writing ideas in general! And in times past, even though there were no movies, it's not as if people didn't have the experience of observing each other in real life and the power of their own crazy imaginations to draw upon. I guess I mean, why did they have 'blanks', but we're okay with those blanks because we have images from movies to draw upon? Why do we draw upon the movies to fill the holes instead of something else?
Adverbs aside, I do think that JKR has a pretty strong (and charming!) narrative voice, which is a large part of why the movies have never appealed as much to me as the books, and that would all be lost if she turned to screenplay. :)
