That's the typical fate of the governess, isn't it? Not really belonging in the family - and, in novels, the idea is to marry the employer.
I'm not much into horror movies, but I LOVE The Innocents. :) Have you read "Turn of the Screw"? One of the things I've been meaning to read for years but haven't. *blush* I've seen Britten's opera, though, very good stuff, too! :)
