That's classic!

In the last post I did there was some really cool discussion about literary fic vs. genre fic, or maybe classic fic vs. popular fic. Actually, we're trying to figure out exactly what was vs. what. I wonder if anybody else has any thoughts on the question, which I suppose might be ( What makes a book classic/important? )
