kaiz wrote a great post here about fanfic and power, and the question of who gets to talk about canon, focusing on what becomes different when a person starts talking about canon with fiction instead of non-fiction. It led me back to what I think is one of my own pet obsessions about fandom.
( I'm sorry to say I start off comparing it to stuff I read about film theory in grad school, but I can't help the way my mind wanders! )
