'Thank you for recalling me to myself and my circumstances.' -
-Wilkie Collins, No Name
Yes,
sydpad, you hooked me and I went out and got it this afternoon. The Dead Secret also looked intriguing. So far I'm 50/50 with Wilkie Collins. I didn't like The Woman in White so much, but loved The Moonstone.
I also just finished Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, which was quite good. I wasn't interested in the subject matter straight off, but somehow it wound up reminding me of Remains of the Day. Ishiguro is so good at tiny shifts in emotion in situations that become immensely important due to circumstances. And, of course, both books deal with people for whom denial is a way of life and how denial is dangerous.
