That's a great distinction--and maybe that's even actually what C said and I got it wrong. I had never thought of him as failing at anything until C said that--to me it seems like he's just been steadily working on this one task, and it's more technological than Jack's. And as you say, stuff just never goes right for him--like when Kate fell out of the tree and smashed the transmitter. He just had to shake his head and try again.
