I feel accomplished, but also feel like I have a million things to do tomorrow and have no money.

I have no money because I finally got a pair of pointe shoes that appear to fit. For some reason when I buy dance shoes I first buy a pair that's too small. Then I go back a week later and ask why they hurt so much or have split in half like the hulk was wearing them and somebody a the store explains I bought them a half size too small. Where are all these sales person when I place my trust in the first salesperson?? I'm awful at buying shoes of all kinds. I have like three pairs and wear each one until they fall off. Whenever I can I go barefoot. The pointe shoes were just embarassing. I know they're supposed to hurt and I tried to just suck it up like that girl in Centerstage would no doubt have done but it turns out when you're in that much pain you really can't just suck it up. I was hobbling. (Said in indignant [livejournal.com profile] potterstinks tone. So I'm very happy now with my new shoes that don't take me 20 minutes to struggle into without a shoe horn and look a lot nicer, imo.

Then Pam and I had a really good writing day working on our next Looney Tunes book. This book has Daffy and Porky going back to Victorian England to meet Sherlock Holmes and solving a wacky mystery, and I would like to apologize to all the English people on my friends list for the truly bad English stereotypes we put in in our desperate attempt to make the book funny. Let's just say there were sticky wickets, wot wot. I guess I should also apologize to the Australians in advance too because the next book has Daffy and Taz going Down Under. We've watched Crocodile Hunter to prepare and you can be there will be a lot of gnarly Sheila's in that book by crikey. We have no shame when it comes to Looney Tunes.

Came home and tried to chat in the Kitchen but could not get in, or perhaps everyone had left. ::sigh::

How compatible with me are YOU?

Tonight AMC (American Movie Classics) was showing Halloween V.

What brand do you fancy, missy? I've noticed that each specific maker has their own cracked-out ideas on the sizing, so if you've switched brands it is entirely possible your old size might be that half-size or so different, thus giving you trouble (provided they even run on the same sizing scale . . .). *prefers Capezio* Also, uh, sticking the dratted things in the oven on a low heat setting and reshaping them to suit while still warm can be helpful.

Haha, was that vague and incoherent enough for you? :-* [/butting in] [lurking]

Hi! I used to wear Repettos the first time I attempted pointe, but I'm going Capezio now. These ones I just got are Contemporas. Part of the problem is my feet are kind of wide, and the left one is bigger than the right and most of all my heels seem to stick out in the back more than most people's which is why the shoehorn comes in handy.

I feel so much better about these, though. I think once I start crushing them etc. they'll be pretty good. I hadn't heard of the oven thing, though. I may try it. Thanks!

The ironic thing is that it's not like I can really dance much in these things at all. I've never gotten very far with him. Maybe this time...

From: [identity profile] psychobarfly.livejournal.com

Haha, I was the same way, but luckily back in the day my instructor had a deal with a dance supplier and we could get whatever mix-matched shoe sizes we needed in whatever brand, though she preferred Capezio and insisted suggested we get that brand. But then, she as a scary Nazi-type woman, so the pros and cons balanced out in the end. . . .

I like Pavlowa, but they're narrow little buggers (and they pinch until you break them in no matter what, hence my shoe-baking ways), so I was about the only one who could fit into them back in the day. :D And of course my preference has nothing to do with the classic ballet pink vs. "European pink," no, not at all. >:D< Contempora's felt . . . too low to the ground to me, or something. They're short-vamped if I remember correctly. Ehh.

Good luck with the oven trick! Just remember to keep an eye on them. A v. close eye. They don't need to set for long at all. And good luck in gerenal. *squee*

I spent yesterday sewing on my ribbons and all that. I think I need to adjust the elastics a bit--the backs are slipping off. They do have a short vamp-you're right. They made me ridiculously happy. I think once I start squishing the front I'll need less lambswool. Go me! LOL.

Two people in my class have these Gaynor Minden's. They don't seem to have any shank at all. Or they come pre-arched (I have no arch at all naturally--no pretty feet for me). That makes them look comfortable but...like not such a good idea. The one woman doesn't look like she's really using her feet in them. It's like there's the toe and then the whole thing just slopes right over. That just can't be good. Thanks for the good luck wishes! I think I'll need them...

I agree 'Weekends are not long enough'

Hi magpie.

'Crocodile Hunter': Oh dear.

'Halloween V': Double Oh Dear

(Taz is my favourite looney tunes character)

Sorry to have missed you in the Kitchen.

Yes, I'm afraid so. Crocodile Hunter. The most enthusiastic man in the world.

Hey, what do you like about Taz exactly? I like him too, but we've been trying to really zone in on what makes him a favorite for people to play that up. We already did one book with him--FrankenTaz--where he and Bugs Bunny went to Dr. Frankenstein's castle (duh). Btw, we've also taken out all these books on Australia--the librarian was so excited because she thought we were going there and it's her favorite place so she had all this advice and we had to tell her no, we're not going, Daffy Duck is. Anyway we started looking at real Tasmanian Devils--woah! Those things are pretty intense!

I hope everybody had a good chat last night!

From: [identity profile] samaranth.livejournal.com

I think it was the noises, magpie, and the way he moved…not just the spinning, but the little dance with his arms in the air. And he is a remarkably trusting devil, he falls for the same tricks every time. He’s not as cunning, or stupid as some of the other Looney Tunes characters are.

Also, he’s Tasmanian! Ie, he’s Australian. Well, supposed to be. He actually looks nothing like a real devil (and their screeches are truly bloodcurdling, not cute.) It used to give us a giggle seeing things like ‘Tasmanian Airlines’ – as if Tasmania was a really big place, not a small island state (apologies to all potentially offended Tasmanians).

Good luck with your research :)

I heard that roar on the net--there was an audio file. Oh my god! That would keep you from sleeping if you heard it outside your window, wouldn't it?! And those teeth!

We were reading a lot about Tasmania because we figure Taz should go and see his mother--we're hoping to also work in a banjo frog because they sound interesting too. Working on FrankenTaz we realized Taz has an advantage because he's so not cunning nobody can really get one over on him or thwart him. Even Bugs Bunny ends up having to just let Taz do what he wants because he's unstoppable. We'll probably have Taz and Daffy go to Australia too, though. We have no idea what the story's going to be at this point, but I hope we come up with something good.

We'll keep researching!

purchasing instruments of torture aka pointe shoes

i haven't had to buy a pair in a long time {thank g-d} -- how much do those stupid things cost these days? even though i despise {from a phenomenological perspective} those "pretty in pink" satin classical instruments of torture, i understand that there comes a time in every ballerina's studies when she must rise up on her tippy-toes no matter how much it hurts. well, who am i to pontificate on appropriate shoewear considering i'm back to stomping the streets of new york in high heels again and have the most 'beautiful' blisters on my feet to show for it. so next time you have to go shopping for a pair just give me a shout -- i'll happily accompany you to assist with you fitting dilemma.

Ha! It's sad that your high heel blisters actually do make me feel kind of vindicated. I will definitely take you along the next time I get shoes, though right now I'm pretty well set up in all the kinds I need.

I'll be wearing little heels tomorrow night, though, so we'll see how well I do in those...

Re: purchasing instruments of torture aka pointe shoes

you did great {as always} and you looked great too! {and have the pixs to prove it} merci beaucoup for helping me out. it was a fun night, n'est-ce-pas? my fave rave moments of the night: the big hug & kiss i got from ethan when he arrived; rubbing elbows {literally} with robert sean leonard @ the party. have you checked out the pixs {up on my fotolog} of the flowers ethan sent to us as thanks? and now that gorgeous bouquet is gracing my humble abode {& brighting up this yet another endless rainy day --you know yesterday i didn't even recognize the stuff outside my apartment window -- it took me a few moments to remember: "hey, that's sunshine out there!} anyway the flowers are chez moi parce que yesterday sara said to take them home with me instead of just letting them die @ the office.

Hi, kat! Always good to see you!

I was going to say something about everybody wanting to be on my friends list in a [livejournal.com profile] potterstinks tone but I couldn't do it with a straight face.:-)

From: [identity profile] kat99999.livejournal.com

Re:

Lol! [livejournal.com profile] potterstinks tone is hard to adapt to everything, I guess. It would just have to be, like, "Everybody wants me as their friend. Everybody. It's making me suspicious." And so on and so forth, lmao.

And aww, your icon! *pets Evil Overlord*
