Waaaaah!

Two days ago, in the morning, the lights started flickering and all the electricity went out. Then the phone started ringing for 20 seconds straight. Then the line made a weird noise and went dead. I was mildly irritated. I smelled something horrible burning, I was still mildly irritated, though upon reflection I should probably have switched to mildly alarmed with that development. Anyway, turns out there was some explosion in a manhole or something that shorted everything out. The electricity came back in the afternoon but I STILL have no phone and so no internet connection at home. The wires, according to the phone professional, were "fried."

They said they'd get it up by Saturday at the latest but I'm dying here. I do not like not having Internet at home. On top of not being able to check the sites and ljs I like, my not having Internet gave my roommate an opening for one of her...remarks. The ones that make me have horrible visions of never making enough money to live in a nice apartment by myself where I'm not constantly being judged.

Was going to write something about LOTR as WW1 literature, but that may have to wait. I WANT MY INTERNET BACK!!
