Today I had my last Power Lunch with A. Power Lunch is a program where they match up a companies with public schools and you go and read with a kid on your lunch hour once a week. I started reading with A when she was in first grade and now she's graduating to middle school. Sometimes it freaks me out that this has seemed like no time at all for me, when I can remember what a huge amount of time it seemed to be between first and fifth grade. Fifth grade, for some reason, has always seemed like the year I started really being "myself" whatever that means. ( Now I'm thinking back on our time reading together: )
In other news, my phones came back--hurray. Now I seriously have to start answering a backload of e-mails. Oh, and Pam and I just got an approval for another book idea in one of the series we write for. YES!! That's money down the road! Last week we watched Hound of the Baskervilles to do research for the one we're working on now--that movie is hysterical. According to Sherlock Holmes "facts" just interfere with the "truth" in a murder investigation. Take that, CSI!
I attended an interesting religious service on the subway this morning and apparently I'm going to hell. Well, as a woman I did cause the downfall of man, after all, so it's only fair. What I love about these guys is that they go on and on about how bad sex is--in this case both het and homosexual--yet the parts of their sermons they seem to take the most care over is the part where they describe all the terrible things those people who do like sex get up to. I thought I'd die laughing when he started describing all those women looking at Playboys. Fantasize much? This particular preacher appeared to be slightly more sexist than homophobic but no worries, we'll all meet up in hell soon enough.
Also two talented writers whom I completely admire have their lj's deleted. Just wanted to say that if you guys are dealing with crap, I hope it ends soon. You're both missed when you're gone, but take whatever time you need.
