Okay, okay. Since everyone's dying to know. My fictional crushes revealed! Although I've loved a lot of characters, there's only two I think of as being...the ones. Not just the passing flings, but the ones that stood the test of time. Original or not,

Will Stanton, The Dark is Rising.

Frodo Baggins, Lord of the Rings.

Both ordinary on the outside, and so much more on the inside. Neither does much with a sword, it's all about the wisdom. They are separate from everyone around them, even their families, which sometimes makes them sad and always makes them compassionate. They're quests are ultimately noticed by few, remembered by fewer and understood by none in this world. They see everything, and that makes them alone. They both try to save the world, but not for themselves. They also both have this incredibly sexy ability to occasionally let just a little bit of their true power show in a way that says, "Don't make me reveal myself fully to you, because if I did you'd probably go mad."

I remember talking to a friend of mine once about Will--she was a Bran fan (one of many, judging by lj!). I said yeah, I could see the attraction, but how could he compare to Will? Will was just--I mean, since I was 11 he's been the ideal. She shook her head and said, "Will? How could you love Will? That's like loving a priest!"

Which is kind of weird because...is it? Obviously there's no reason an Old One would have to be celibate or anything like that but there does seem to be a kind of...untouchable thing going on there, with the whole Sign-Seeker, Watchman, non-human perspective. And what about poor Frodo--maybe he bears just a little resemblance to a monk/priest as well? (When he's not in Rainverse, that is? I wouldn't describe either of them in those terms, but other people seem to, occasionally. Hmmm...

at least two of the Old Ones are married to each other, can't remember their names. Possibly they have an Old ONe son as well.

I was always mad about Sam, to be honest. Cheerful, loyal, and a damn good cook to boot. (it just occured to me that I can describe my boyfriend the same way. Creepy.)
