It's me again, but I couldn't stand it. I want to do the meme too.

1) Copy and paste this: yourusername into your journal.
2) Replace [] with <>

The book meme:
1. Take five books off your bookshelf.
2. Book #1 -- first sentence
3. Book #2 -- last sentence on page fifty
4. Book #3 -- second sentence on page one hundred
5. Book #4 -- next to the last sentence on page one hundred fifty
6. Book #5 -- final sentence of the book
7. Make the five sentences into a paragraph.

The paragraph:
The feast was a thing Liam Rhenford had never thought to see in Taralon and because of that, and his general feeling of being an outsider, he allowed himself a little too much of the hot, spiced wine. Such mishandling of the most sensational murder of all might, if the killer was ever caught, materially affect the outcome of any future trial and might possibly be the flaw in the case which could lead to his acquittal. "We shall have to call the police, and I don't want anything touched before they arrive. Off!" Rose said the branch wasn't worrying her in the least. She was not her daughter.

The books:
1. Fanuilh by Daniel Hood
2. The Dark is Rising Sequence by Susan Cooper
3. The Complete Jack the Ripper by Donald Rumbelow
4. I Capture The Castle by Dodie Smith
5. The Circus Fire by Stewart O'Nan

The paragraph...doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but I admire the contents of your bookshelf. :D Did you see the movie of 'I Capture the Castle'?

I haven't! It's one of those things where I think, "But how could it work as a movie??"

My mom used to talk about that book and when they re-issued it she gave it to me explaining how it was one of her favorites ever. She proved to have Very Good Taste. I love it.

I didn't realize it until doing the thing, but almost all the sentences refer to some kind of crime, even if it's not clear from the words.

Hee! That's great! And a Michelle Magorian reference to boot!

Though do you mean Rose or Cassandra in ICtC. Isn't Cassandra the writer and Rose is her sister? (Fie! Fie! I always picture when I think of Rose--she's great.)

Err-apparently I accidentally deleted a comment there. Didn't mean to, and have no idea how or when I did it. Oops.

3. The Complete Jack the Ripper by Donald Rumbelow

I like this title. Would you recommend the book, or it won't be worth my time?

Oh, Donald Rumbelow is the best authority on the Jack the Ripper case. He used to be in the City Police himself and I believe he's the one who rescued the glass negative to the crime photo of Mary Kelly (the last victim--that's a picture you won't soon forget, btw. It's completely horrifying) His book's the best, imo. It's nonfiction and probably the best book about the subject one can get. I've taken his London walk a few times and am a total groupie. Yes, my copy is signed.:-D
