Am I right in saying Happy birthday to
cathexys? If so, happy birthday!
Just got back from the parents' house. There's nothing like seeing your mom when you haven't seen her for a while, taking off your coat, having her look you lovingly up and down and say, "Don't you ever throw anything out?" Especially when you're actually wearing new clothes. Anyway, got my hair re-colored because again--thanks Mom!--it was very white.
I seem to have missed a lot on my flist--particular props to Aja for her great essay! Woo-hoo! The very first sentence made me want to write something in response, and knowing me I'll probably do just that later.
When I got back I was all looking forward to taking an afternoon ballet class with a teacher. La la la, I think. I'd better just have something to eat beforehand so I'm not hungry. Perhaps a nice, soft grilled cheese. I'll just chew a little bit of that and...CRACK! OUCH!
%%$#!!&$!^ TOOTH!!!
So instead I went back to the dentist and sat there until somebody saw me and said, "Oh, yeah. You need a root canal. Here's a referral. Good luck." Good luck is what they said--like they knew how impossible it's been for me to get this fixed. So I have my first root canal appointment this week. Until then, let's hope I can avoid biting down on that tooth as much as possible and so avoid zapping that nerve again.

Luckily (or not) this is not my first root canal. I had more than one when I was a kid.

Ouch, the same thing happened to me - Cracked a tooth pretty badly and had immediate root canal. But the
butcherdentist who did my root canal DIDN'T numb my tooth the day he pulled out the nerves and I stupidly didn't question it, thinking 'Oh then, it can't be that bad'. It was like God's wrath condensed into 30 minutes of paiiin. *Is traumatized forever*Uh, I suppose I'm not doing you any favors here, babbling my nightmarish experience. Heh. If it's any consolation, a really good dentist will make it practically painless. Some even say it 'tickles'... Lucky bastids :P

You'd think dentists would know how important this is, given that so many people hate them and associate them with pain!

Ouch for your tooth! Make sure you crown it imediately. I had a root canal but wasn't going to get the crown until the next visit. Unfortunately between the two visits, the tooth cracked to the bone and had to be pulled.
@*#%!!!
Btw, ask for gas. You'll enjoy the visit just a wee bit better. ;)
