It'll be really interesting to see how these movies hold up. I think that's one of the things about Crash was that I appreciated a lot in it, but despite everything it was saying it just didn't stay with me as much. Where as, I think BBM does work without any sort of agenda. I don't think there's anything particularly dated about BBM (besides the actual time it takes place). Sure in the future it might not be at all remarkable that it's about a gay couple, but I think it would still stand as the study of this gay couple.
Yes! I've read a lot of comments saying BBM was overrated, saying it was merely (or mostly) its topic that got it so much attention/acclaim and that some years down the track we would all look back and realize just how overrated it was. Well, I don't know about other people but that is completely untrue in my case, and I hate it when people polarize things like that- especially when they think they know you better than you do!

Though it's nice to know that straight men who were previously erked by all things gay are seeing the film (the ones I know are doing it mostly to "prove a point") and feeling impressed. Wouldn't have happened had BBM not been getting so much press time!
