I feel like I've been away for years instead of a week. I had a good time, though. Got back last weekend then was both buried trying to do everything that backed up while I was out of the country and, more importantly, looking forward to seeing
samaranth and Leshii when they visited.
( A good time was had by all. )
Oh, one excellent thing that happened while I was away was that Marigold was announced cancer-free. She had surgery right before I left and was still at the vet, but the doctor said there seemed to be no cancer in the margins of what they took out. She made me a little card celebrating this fact that was waiting for me when I got home. ("No cancer. Cookies now.") Her hair has been shaved in strange areas, so one side of her behind is completely shaved and her tail is on a little crooked. She has a huge scar running from one side to the other which she feels gives her street cred. Her new name on the street is Scarbutt.
I notice the chan debate is still going strong! ( A few thoughts of mine on that subject. )
Of course I couldn't resist putting my $.02 in!
Anyway, thanks to everyone who wished my well on my trip--I left right after my last entry so didn't get a chance to answer the posts, but they were very much appreciated. Oh, the one infuriating thing about it. I came back the day of the snow storm, flying into JFK, not a very welcoming place at the best of times. There was this guy trying to get a cab into the city. I think he was German but luckily he spoke English somewhat. Two cabdrivers kicked him out of their cab and refused to take him because they didn't know where his hotel was!!! One of them is demanding directions like this isn't somebody who's never been to NYC before. The cab wrangler at the airport is yelling at them to look it up in their book or call the hotel and get directions but they were both all, "I don't have a book. I don't have a phone. I don't want to take him."
Unbelieveable. Welcome to America.
