So this guy I know said something kind of interesting about
I'm really loving this show. So far every character interests me, especially the way since you've got a bunch of people on this desert island everything immediately reverts back to traditional gender roles. There's very few women, and three of the ones there are already mostly defined as being all about mating and reproduction. I left off Kate because she's been pretty active but even she's obviously the Alpha female already sort of seen as Jack's mate.
But with the guys, I love the way they're all having to scramble and find ways of being useful otherwise they're just destroyed. Last week two of the most useless found themselves--Michael turned out to know something about construction and Charlie, whose bardic talents were cheaped in the real world and so far useless in this world, finally took a step towards taking responsibility for himself instead of blaming circumstances for all of his bad decisions (complete with handy moth imagery!).
Anyway, here's the thing C said. We were talking about Sayid and he pointed out something P and I had completely missed because, being female, our main thought about Sayid is that HE'S SUCH HOTTIEE OMG!!111!1 According to C, Jack's the natural leader and Sayid's the bungler. I had never noticed this but that's what C, a man, zeroed in on. Everything poor Sayid tries goes wrong. Jack's taking care of things right and left and Sayid still hasn't been able to get that transmitter working. Anyway, just thought that was a really interesting guy perspective.
