Never thought I'd do a political meme, but since I'm so clueless about the subject I went ahead and found out what political persuasion I was. There was a question I hesitated on, though, and depending on my answer I got two different answers so...

You Are a New School Democrat

You like partying and politics - and are likely to be young and affluent.

You're less religious, traditional, and uptight than most Democrats.

Smoking pot, homosexuality, and gambling are all okay in your book.

You prefer that the government help people take care of themselves.

If I'm not that I'm:

You Are a "Don't Tread On Me" Libertarian

You distrust the government, are fiercely independent, and don't belong in either party.

Religion and politics should never mix, in your opinion... and you feel oppressed by both.

You don't want the government to cramp your self made style. Or anyone else's for that matter.

You're proud to say that you're pro-choice on absolutely everything!

Also, gacked from [livejournal.com profile] go_back_chief because I said I would at the end, but for some reason feel weird about it:

1. When did you first "friend" me?
2. Why did you first "friend" me?
3. What posts of mine do you like to read the best?
4. What would you like me to write about that I don't?
5. Do you think we would be friends in real life?
6. How often do you read my journal?
7. What do we have in common?
8. Will you post this in your journal so I can answer?

I've had a really hard time answering that "Which HP character am I?" meme for anybody else, but I'll add it as a 9th question anyway.

9. If I were an HP character, who would I be?

2. I friended you because I've been reading your posts and comments and, while I didn't always agree with them, I enjoyed reading them.
3. I think you're an interesting writer and I've enjoyed most of your posts, but your HP ones are the ones I "friended" you for.

I have a feeling there are very few people in fandom that really do seem like a character!

I'm very open to different opinions. Well, sometimes I'm reluctant at first, but usually because other people are so often right about their strong opinions...:-)

Thanks for answering and posting it yourself!

LOL! I loved that whole thread about resembling characters. It should be a form of therapy or something.

I will, of course, be answering your own version of this. I think I'll probably have the same answers as you...

From: [identity profile] ljash.livejournal.com

That was a very weird quiz. Your two results were so wildly different (at least to me) that I went to take it, too. The one I couldn't answer was about the size of government--it's not that it's too big or too little, it's that it's doing mostly the wrong things. It's too intrusive where it shouldn't be and not helping enough where it should. I changed my answers all around and oddly got more liberal with smaller government, which is weird.

I shall rudely not answer your actual asked questions 'cause I'm tired. :) Maybe later.

No problem whatsoever--I mean, I don't think it's rude.:-)

I thought the same thing when I saw my two different possibilties. I can't even remember now what the question was I changed my answer on to get the second one. I had the same thoughts on the government one too--I think I said it was the right size.

1. When did you first "friend" me?
If I'm not mistaken, it was when you wrote that post on Snape's worst memory.

2. Why did you first "friend" me?
Because I loved that post!

3. What posts of mine do you like to read the best?
Almost all your post, but especially the ones in which you mention Snape ^_^.

4. What would you like me to write about that I don't?
Oh, so many things! I mean, everything you write is interesting, and I'm curious about your opinion on everything. Hm, perhaps I would like you to post more about... writing. Especially about fanfiction writing. I'm sorry if I can't be more specific.

5. Do you think we would be friends in real life?
Yeah, I'm sure we could be, if you didn't find me too boring! You seem to be a person who's always willing to listen. I'm a good listener too, and this is a quality I appreciate a lot in a friend.

6. How often do you read my journal?
Almost every time you post. Sometimes I don't know anything about the subject, so I just skim the entry. Otherwise, I read it attentively.

7. What do we have in common?
We both are intelligent ^_^ and polite ;-). We tend to be logical, and we have a similar sense of ethics.

8. Will you post this in your journal so I can answer?
Hm, no.

9. If I were an HP character, who would I be?
This one is really hard! I think you're too good to be a JKR's character! Perhaps Remus Lupin, but I know you don't like him, and I don't like him either, so... no. I'm going to skip this one.

Oh, I do like Lupin! I can totally see him secretly taking over the HP world.:-) But I do think he's got a lot of flaws and is truly obnoxious to Snape third year.

I've been trying to think about fanfiction lately and might post something about it. I've never written it so I mostly am just in awe of how many incredibly fic writers there are.

I can't think of anybody offhand that I feel like I couldn't be friends with so far who has posted in my lj, really. I probably just love responses.:-)

1. When did you first "friend" me?

Last year, I believe. Early last year. Maybe 2002? Early on in my lj-days, at least, so that the memory sinks in my mind and I can't recall correctly. *g*

2. Why did you first "friend" me?

Excellent ideas on Slytherin and Harry Potter Draco Malfoy. ^_^

3. What posts of mine do you like to read the best?

Your meta-posts, the same as is my favorite of rp_zeal. I mean, it's just fascinating reading what the two of you have to come up with, and often just a lot of fun.

4. What would you like me to write about that I don't?

This is one of the bizarre questions, I think. Write what you will! I'll still read it. ^_^

5. Do you think we would be friends in real life?

I think so.

6. How often do you read my journal?

Every time you post. I've been horrible about replying recently, I know, but I do honestly read everything that gets posted on my friends' list.

7. What do we have in common?

HP, Slytherin, like to discuss plot points and speculate for the future more than is prolly good for us. Also theater.

8. Will you post this in your journal so I can answer?

Perhaps. It's a strange sort of quiz, really.

9. If I were an HP character, who would I be?

No idea. HP characters don't really lend themselves to real life people in my mind, so it's really impossible for me to say. ^_^

I'm honestly appreciative of anybody who comments on my posts ever, so I definitely don't think everybody has to do it a lot...just cause I know a lot of times when I read a long post I might really like it but you have to make an effort to really reply to it.

I think you were one of the first people I noticed on FAP actually--must have been that "skills or money?" thread. I loved reading your arguments and finding out I wasn't the only person who thought these things were there in the text.:-)

1) I first "friended" you earlier this year, before my school's summer break.

2) I liked the way you thought about things... I think either Percy or Draco was the subject of the first post I read by you.

3) The HP ones, I guess, but I like how you always seem to have an opinion about *something*, so that's just a generalization.

4) I have no idea... I bet I don't read every single post you publish.

5) I have no idea. It's possible, because your personality seems like it's something I would "gel" with easily, but other interests of ours (besides HP and certain political things) could be very far apart.

6) Fairly regularly. Whenever it's on my friends page, I read it!

7) Harry Potter, Democratic opinions, The Dark is Rising sequence, an appreciation for good literature in general (I guess)

8) Dunno. Might as well, just to see what people really think about me.

9) Gah! I don't know... HP characters are more about helping self-identification, in my mind, than identifying others. That said, you come across as a bit Percy-ish at times, a bit Nevilley at others... sometimes both at once!
I really don't know how to answer this question.

Percy and Neville! I love it! It's funny because when I've seen this meme elsewhere I usually can't come up with anything for people...except for a select few where I'm surprised they do remind me of somebody.

1. When did you first "friend" me?

Shortly after I started my journal. It must've been last spring.

2. Why did you first "friend" me?

We'd already met each other on the 'Draco and Quidditch - Skills or Money?' thread on FAP and I remembered how impressed I was with your ability to debate and bring on great points. I also adored your Hagrid post on LJ. :))

3. What posts of mine do you like to read the best?

Your HP and Draco analysis, no competition. You are highly intelligent, respectful and reasonable - with other words, everything I'm not, and I admire these abilities of yours more than you can imagine.

4. What would you like me to write about that I don't?

Never change!!!

5. Do you think we would be friends in real life?

6. How often do you read my journal?

Whenever you update.

7. What do we have in common?

Draco, H/D and we love to write long posts, even though mine can't be compared with yours, of course.

I remember it being just that way--not much meta talk. Luckily I got most of it on my flist and kept it there.

Besides, to me it's more of a feeling than a list of traits, y'know?

Definitely. You know, now that reminds me of XF fandom, where it seemed like the people I agreed with always "felt right" too. Not just because we agreed, I mean, because sometimes you can agree with someone on certain subjects and they still bug you.
ext_6866: (Me)

From: [identity profile] sistermagpie.livejournal.com

Heh--I just went through trying to remember who asked me to write more about my writing. Turns out it was you!

I feel so silly about that because I'm all paranoid about real life and lj colliding. So when it comes to stuff I'm writing or have written that's published I think, "Uh-oh, somebody could look me up!" Then when it comes to things I'm struggling with and want to publish it's either a) don't jinx it! or b) this really sucks and if you talk about it it will be very pretentious and people would expect it to actually be good. It would be very embarassing for them to see it wasn't.

Iow, I'm neurotic. So I post about writing in a roundabout way. But my flist actually just helped me writing-wise this weekend. First [livejournal.com profile] the_gentleman happened to mention how long his chapters were in comparison to PS/SS, and I realized that the thing I'm writing isn't as godawful long as I thought, I was just accidentally breaking down the chapters for younger kids. And then [livejournal.com profile] pauraque posted this link to critique of The DaVinci code that made me think, "Hey, that guy's being laughed at for doing something I just avoided because it was stupid. I rock!!"

From: [identity profile] yourpoison.livejournal.com

Heheh oh, I could tell why you didn't-- though if it's just people finding you, you could friends-lock it (gasp!), it's just that selfish curiousity thing and also I have an obsession with seeing people talk about their writing. >:D It's like, addictive for some reason-- no matter -what- people's relationship with it, I'm fascinated. Like, I think it tells a lot that Virginia Woolf didn't enjoy the company of other writers, though I'm not sure -what- the reason is :>

Plus, I meant more process and tangential things rather than specific 'this is what I'm doing & this is the issue I have' stuff, but then I forget you're much more concrete than I, after all >:D

(Also, it would be -painful- to read long chapters-- or just much more in general-- of Philosopher's Stone, so I'm thinking the editing would've had to knock some verbiage off if nothing else.)
ext_6866: (Me)

From: [identity profile] sistermagpie.livejournal.com

In that case I can probably post more about it--sometimes when I do I almost feel like I'm talking around something, you know? Because I'm not used to talking about writing as "a process" it's more like the thing you do--well, you write about it that way too. I mean, you write about the process but it's also obviously concrete, it's not like those books where people make it into a spiritual process but it seems like they never write anything down. I love talking about the nuts and bolts stuff in general and figuring out just how to make something work--not with specifics of a particular thing but just examples like, "What do you do when you can't make a character talk?" or whatever. I probably get my best inspiration from lj that way.

Heh--right now my partner and I are doing a novelization so the process is like: Watch a few seconds. "What did he say? Rewind it." "Okay, type that. Then what happens?" "Cut this part cause it's not funny in writing. What did he say? How should I spell RAAAUURRRGGGH?" *type type type* Much easier that way.

My main memory of reading PS/SS was, "Okay, we KNOW the kid is special so just GIVE HIM THE DAMN LETTERS!" I swear I almost put it down during that drawn out part where Vernon kept taking them. It was like having a second opening chapter.

From: [identity profile] yourpoison.livejournal.com

I'm not really sure what I meant by 'process', anyway-- like, I don't really have writing 'issues' & don't know what sort of thing I tend to write about myself (if indeed I write about it, as you seem to imply, ahahah). Like, yeah, it's just that thing I do :> :> Um, it certainly never feels like a spiritual process anymore than eating or some other bodily function :))

I'm not that picky as to what kind of talk it is, though. :> Like, I don't really know a lot of specifics myself, but I love seeing other people answe. As in your example-- I never actually force any character to do anything, so I don't have 'tricks', y'know? I work almost entirely on inspiration. And if I'm not inspired, I can just churn out dreck by rote, too. That always works :>

PS just... really annoyed me a lot. I mean, there's a reason I couldn't get past halfway chapter 1 on the first try. Oh man. You're made of sterner stuff than I :>

1. When did you first "friend" me? Erm, earlier this year? Maybe March?

2. Why did you first "friend" me? Because of the wonderful and sensible things you had to say about The Lord of the Rings in various forums. When I peeked at your journal there was all this Harry Potter stuff, and I thought, wow, I didn't know there was so much to say about Harry Potter.

3. What posts of mine do you like to read the best? The meta, which is just about everything I guess. :) Another way to put this would be, what makes your meta different from all other meta? I'd say it's the way you tackle a question. Your argumentative style is really interesting: you hold up an idea for examination -- say, an interpretation of a particular character -- and then you seem to turn and twist it in the light of common sense to see what can be made of it. You base your positions on appeals to ordinary experience (things like "whenever I do x, y happens: why can't we judge the books that way?"). That's very refreshing; you don't seem to trip up in abstractions or some predetermined position about how books should work. Also, it's very cool how you do in fact acknowledge other points of view, and you don't have heart failure when one of your commenters respectfully disagrees with you. It's an incredible skill to run discussions on such hot topics that don't degenerate into rancor.

4. What would you like me to write about that I don't? I think the world would be a better place if everyone in it wrote slash twenty-four hours a day. But meta is fine. :)

5. Do you think we would be friends in real life? Don't know; it depends on how calmly you'd react when you discovered that I'm a wombat IRL.

6. How often do you read my journal? You've always been on my A filter, so I read all your posts. Sometimes I don't get to LJ right away on weekends, though.

7. What do we have in common? The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, and I believe we share OTPs in these fandoms as well. You are clearly a woman of impeccable taste and discernment. Are you by any chance a wombat too?

8. Will you post this in your journal so I can answer? Erm, well, uh, probably not, because I'm a coward about personal posts.

9. If I were an HP character, who would I be? Crookshanks; you have an eagle eye for suspicious characters and you can help people find their way home when they are lost.

Wow--you make me sound so smart! Seriously, I was preening by the end of #3.:-) And it was interesting too, because I really do feel like I'm looking at books just like I'd look at anything because that's all I know how to do, you know? It's not really like "doing meta" to me, it's just this is how I read. Like, isn't it obvious that Frodo was the kind of person who seemed older than he was as a child and younger than he was as an adult? I think I don't get into abstractions because they lose me. That's when I think, "In over my head." Heh. Now I'm remembering trying to read Julia Kristeva in grad school and being unable to make head nor tail of it.

I thought, wow, I didn't know there was so much to say about Harry Potter.

Ah yes, I had been there myself. And now you know the awful truth. There's even more to say about it!

it depends on how calmly you'd react when you discovered that I'm a wombat IRL.

A WHAT??? *has heart failure previously avoided during respectful disagreement* Luckily, I think I might be a wombat too. You never know.

It's an incredible skill to run discussions on such hot topics that don't degenerate into rancor.

It feels like pure luck! I like saying something that will generate discussion so I think when I post things I probably am trying to leave things open for people to either disagree (though of course I prefer YOU'RE BRILLIANT and do occasionally worry I'll have said something upsetting or something) or take it in another direction or further. But I can never predict what will do that, you know? I did a post on Snape's Worst Memory that had brilliant discussion--I think it was linked to in Snape groups--and not only was it a great conversation but it got me in touch with all these Snape people, which plugged me into more interesting discussions on that character. I think that's one of the amazing things about HP fandom is the whole thing is like a meme. Somebody posts an idea, and people talk and then come away and post something in their own ljs etc. A big percentage of my posts are really in response to other discussions.

Wow. Just wrote a lot. In other news, I do have impeccable taste in OTPs as well!

From: [identity profile] go-back-chief.livejournal.com

1. It must have been sometime in februari, when I first got my journal. You were one of the first persons I friended, that I do remember.;-) In fact, the discussions on yours and Ivyblossom's journals were one of the reasons I got an LJ in the first place. The general intelligence level tended to be higher here than on the usual FAP threads. *hides*

2. Well, needless to say I had seen you around in FAP and you always made intelligent posts there, and when I found this journal, I realised there was a lot more where that came from, so how could I not have?

3. I really like most posts you write, because they always offer something to think about. Sometimes I'm too exhausted to answer, but I always read them. Another thing I like about them, is that they always open for discussion. I don't know how you do that, but you do.

4. To be perfectly honest, I have a hard time thinking up something that you haven't already written about. You touch upon a broad range of subjects, I mean. Can you think of something?

5. I wish so, and I don't really see why not.

6. Whenever you update.

7. An interest for children's literature, and analysis, writing... The way we look at characters and themes are also often similar, I find, and I think we share many values, or at least it seems so.

8 Skipping question.;-)

9. Well, as I've said before, this is almost always impossible to say because duh, real persons are more complicated than fictionals, and besides, I haven't seen the way you act. However, if I were to choose one, I'd go for Lupin. Yes, obvious, and unoriginal, because duh, you already said so in an entry, but I remember reading that entry and thinking "yeah, that makes sense."
ext_6866: (Me)

From: [identity profile] sistermagpie.livejournal.com

That's such a good point about not seeing the way people act, isn't it? I mean, I've met a few people off lj and there's always that moment of--whoa--when you've got their lj persona next to their real life persona. My favorite example is always somebody who said I was much bigger on the 'net than I am in real life.

I really like most posts you write, because they always offer something to think about. Sometimes I'm too exhausted to answer, but I always read them. Another thing I like about them, is that they always open for discussion. I don't know how you do that, but you do.

Like I was saying to [livejournal.com profile] fictualities, I think I always hope to start a good discussion but it's pure luck when I do. I'm just glad people show up--I think it's the comments that more decide whether it's going to be a discussion or not, you know? Thinking back it seems like sometimes the posts that generate the most discussion are the ones I think are the most basic, if that makes sense. Something I might think of as this new, mind-blowing theory just won't be that inspiring.

I can't think of something I haven't written about either! If I do think of it, I'll probably do a post.;-)

When you fumble for words, you do it accurately. And long rambles which are still utterly concise.

Wow--that's like the best lj-feedback I could hope for. Seriously!

I am definitely a student of the art of interruption. I think we would get on well...

Well you already do... this sounds silly, but dance class.

Ha! There's this woman in class who sort of annoys me because she always goes with every group when they dance instead of taking turns. Today as I was watching her I was thinking, "I would so like to rant about you in my lj!" One day she'll show up in one of those "pet peeve" memes.

In the meantime, though, today I thought I kicked someone by accident and apologized profusely before I realized I was apologizing to a barre and not a person. The woman I thought I'd kicked found it very amusing, though. I sounded like Wilt on Foster's: I'm sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Okay? Sorry.

1. When did you first "friend" me?
Er... sometime last year, I think? I can't remember when exactly, but it was a few months after Nraged started to really kick off. It seems like quite a long time ago in my head.

2. Why did you first "friend" me?
Ah that I remember-- good old Nraged! I sort of forgot to keep up with it after a while, but I always did enjoy analyzing things to death on those threads. You struck me as amazingly insightful and very kind :)

3. What posts of mine do you like to read the best?
I love all your posts, really. I suppose I especially like it when you go off on those Harry Potter essays of yours *grin*. You always seem to have this way of explaining a concept or theory in great detail that I had in mind but never could find the right words for, so I end up saying "yes! exactly!"

4. What would you like me to write about that I don't?
I can't really think of anything-- I enjoy your journal just as it is!

5. Do you think we would be friends in real life?
Who knows? You seem absolutely lovely, so I like to think we would get on well. I'm a bit of a country mouse, though, so I don't think I could ever live in a city like New York for long. But that's the wonderful thing about the internet; you get to meet people you never would ordinarily.

6. How often do you read my journal?
As often as you update? I check my flist daily if I have the time, so I just read it along with the other goings on of the day.

7. What do we have in common?
We both just love those Slytherin brats! Especially one in particular.

8. Will you post this in your journal so I can answer?
Honestly? Probably not ;-)

9. If I were an HP character, who would I be?
Hmmmm. For some reason, I want to say McGonagall. I suppose it's because you seem to be rather fair and impartial when it comes to discussing various Harry Potter characters and theories (well, more so than most anyway!), even though we all know where your loyalties blatantly lie ;-)

That's right, we did meet on Nraged! Ah, those were the days. ::sigh:: That game came very close to exploding my brain by the end there.

even though we all know where your loyalties blatantly lie ;-)

LOL! That's what I always think--I mean, I figure, I should be obvious about my own biases so nobody can accuse me of hiding. But then I also figure if I'm honest with myself it should force me to try to see the other characters' side. It's all just about my maintaining the delusion that I'm objective when I'm not.:-D

1. When did you first "friend" me?
When I delurked. That would be this spring, I think. I had been crushing from afar. <3

2. Why did you first "friend" me?
Because you're wise and funny and love the Draco.

3. What posts of mine do you like to read the best?
I think my favourite one was when you witnessed public wanking in the metro. I am just sick like that.

4. What would you like me to write about that I don't?
... H/D fic.

5. Do you think we would be friends in real life?
Yes. I can't imagine you not getting along with somebody. Probably if you hated them you would still be very tactful about letting them know. >:D

6. How often do you read my journal?
When it pops out in my flist.

7. What do we have in common?
Mulder! Wanting to believe? A love for the scorned? I am not sure. O_o

8. Will you post this in your journal so I can answer?
I'll try.

9. If I were an HP character, who would I be?
Remus, but not fandom Remus. Plus, you'd have Phineas funny.

I'm so glad someone sees the importance of the public wanking posts! I share because I care!

Probably if you hated them you would still be very tactful about letting them know. >:D

Mwahahahaha! I told you I liked Peter Pettigrew!

And Phineas! *punches fist in air* You get a gold star for that one.

1. Actually, I managed to remember that, because the first comment you ever did on my lj was on a post I have in memories. May this year. :)
2. Probably something intelligent you said in one of adela's posts. Actually, I'd been noticing your comments/posts fpr a while, and friended you when I worked up the courage.
3. I don't know-you manage to write long insightful posts on any topic. I guess I have a soft spot for the HP meta though.
4. I can't think of a thing. :)
5. Right, so the standard answer would be that it's hard to tell from the internet...but to be honnest, I can't think of a thing that's not to like about you. I might get on your nerves though. :P
6. Whenever you update-or, if it's a particulary long post, I bookmark it mentally to read when I have time to digest it.
7. A love for Slytherins and Draco in specific. I also enjoy picking appart the HP verse, but I don't do it as often or well as you.
8. I've already posted this.
9. I hate that question, it's impossible to answer! You're very Ravenclaw in your intelligence, but I wouldn't dream of comparing you to Hermione, since you're actually logical and level-headed in presenting your arguments. You're probably like some minor character we don't know more about, like Penelope Clearwater or something. But Ravenclaw to the bone at any rate. :)
ext_6866: (Me)

From: [identity profile] sistermagpie.livejournal.com

Now I'm going to look at that post. I was probably reading your lj for a while and shyly not friending.

As malafede said, if you got on my nerves I'd probably cleverly disguise it so we could still be friends.:-)

I have yet to do a Sorting Hat quiz where I wasn't Ravenclaw (except for that one really funny one where they basically took the house you clearly *wanted* to be in according to your answers and then put you in the house you'd probably like the least given what your favorite was). It's kind of funny when you think of it canon-wise, because sometimes it seems like Ravenclaws are primarily there to date people. Until Luna, at least.

Heh, that's actually true. Out of all the Houses, who would have thought it would be the Ravenclaws that are delegated to random booty. :P

1. When did you first "friend" me?
Immediately after I created my own journal, this August.

2. Why did you first "friend" me?
I had been lurking for ages - I stumbled on one of your Draco essays, I think, and stayed because I loved your sensible approach both to the character and to discussion in general.

What posts of mine do you like to read the best?
Character discussions, I think - you always find something new and interesting and intelligent to say.

4. What would you like me to write about that I don't?
Anything, really - your discussions are always fun and make me think, so I'd read even about subjects I know nothing about.

5. Do you think we would be friends in real life?
I don't know (you might find me terribly boring or annoying), but I'm sure I would want to be. People who value intelligent discussion and rational argument more than just proving themselves right are so rare...

6. How often do you read my journal?
Every time you post.

7. What do we have in common?
We like rational arguments. We like looking at problems from all sides. We have similar ethics. In HP, we mostly find the same characters and topics interesting...

8. Will you post this in your journal so I can answer?
Oh hell, why not?

9. If I were an HP character, who would I be?
None of them are nearly reasonable enough, or willing enough to look at sides that aren't them. You'd be a Ravenclaw, though, I'm sure about that.

I was trying to remember about friending you on your lj and I couldn't remember how I came to do it either. I know you commented here first...maybe it was anonymously? Anyway, glad you're here!

My head has completely swelled up from this meme. I feel like a character in a sitcom who will now walk around feeling smart and reasonable until I annoy everyone and wind up having to learn a lesson about pride. Like Peter Brady when he saved that girl's life in the toy store. Oh well, it's fun while it lasts!!:-)

Yes, I did comment a few times anonymously before I got my own journal, and then non-anonymously afterwards.

You're one of the most reasonable people I know on LJ, and I admire very much how you don't let affection stand in the way of objectivity, even when you very obviously love a character. (Of course, I only say that because I usually agree with you...)

From: [identity profile] slinkhard.livejournal.com

It's such a masturbatory meme, isn't it? I feel compelled to do it myself and pore over the results for hours.

1. When did you first "friend" me?

*checks my joule thing* Around Sept last year.

2. Why did you first "friend" me?

Cause you're TEH KEWLIEST!11

3. What posts of mine do you like to read the best?

I like them all. HP ones where the nice characters get stick are always fun. I just point detractors smugly to them.

4. What would you like me to write about that I don't?

I'd say fic, except it couldn't live up to what I'd hope from it ;)

5. Do you think we would be friends in real life?

Sure!

6. How often do you read my journal?

*turns tables* How often do you post?
I don't know, whenever you write something!

7. What do we have in common?

Opinions and values? H/D loff and Ginny hate? Dunno!

8. Will you post this in your journal so I can answer?

I wasn't going to, but I might not be able to resist. *massages own ego*

9. If I were an HP character, who would I be?

Well, I hate so many of them, whereas I like you! But as the ones I like are nasty...
Hagrid! Muhahahaha! Fanon!Hagrid who actually likes nasty people instead of nasty animals. ;)
ext_6866: (Me)

From: [identity profile] sistermagpie.livejournal.com

Masturbatory is right--and yet I make you all help! It's so sick! *prints out compliments*

I'd say fic, except it couldn't live up to what I'd hope from it ;)

Someone understands! (You're so right!)

Fanon!Hagrid. Well, now the meme is complete for me. It just doesn't get better than Fanon!Hagrid.

From: [identity profile] slinkhard.livejournal.com

I think I'd expect more from your fic than Rowling's next. Which is the sort of comment one would expect to read in Cassandra Claire's journal. *flatters shamelessly magpie and her bnf status* Of course, most people who know me realise I expect more from my next issue of Cosmo than Rowling's next, so it's not so sycophantic as it sounds ;)

I love Fanon!Hagrid. I bet he's nicer than any canon character...

From: [identity profile] chresimos.livejournal.com

1&2. I actually don't remember. I just found your LJ, read some posts, went - hey, cool meta - and thus friended. Er, I think. (A quick check of the marnanel reveals that this was almost exactly a year ago!)
3. What posts of mine do you like to read the best? I don't get this question, yo. I don't tend to read people if what they mostly post bores me to pieces. I could say "post more about HP" or something, but if you want to post about some fandom about which I have no clue, who am I to complain? I enjoyed reading all the posts I've read, so I can't give you an idea of which ones are 'better', which I think is what this question might be trying to find out. ;)
4. What would you like me to write about that I don't? See above!
5. Do you think we would be friends in real life? I don't know - I really don't think you can ever tell. There are so many variables that just don't appear online - like that meme that was going around about things that should be obvious but aren't.
6. How often do you read my journal? Honestly? *shuffles* Sometimes I don't read your posts because they tend to be quite long and involved, discussion-type posts which means I have to read the comments as well, and sometimes I don't have time. Isn't that horrible? On the other hand, mostly I shun my whole flist, not any one person specifically - I don't usually skim.
7. What do we have in common? Hmmmm...a tendency towards trying to calmly discuss and open up new perspectives?
8. Will you post this in your journal so I can answer? Maybe.
9. If I were an HP character, who would I be? Ack, I don't know. I think you would be a sort of Ravenclaw trying to persuade everybody to act more sensible through reasonable discussion, and such types are not represented in canon! >:| But anyway, I saw on [livejournal.com profile] reenka's that you are Spock - do not hide!

Also, this is neither here nor there, but I have noticed that you are always very consistent in your replying-to-comments(I mean that you seem to reply to almost every LJ comment you receive), and that you also are much with the regular posting. And I admire that. :D

LOL---Meanwhile, I tend to think this is unhealthy.:-) It's just usually everybody brings some new perspective so I do often feel like okay, I need to go through every one.

I'm totally not surprised you would sometimes skip my posts--frankly, I feel like if my lj was an ongoing school assignment it would be pretty hefty. It's usually when people talk about writing fiction where they talk about "needing to get it out," but for me it's sometimes these big posts. Like coming home from work I was struck by the post I just did (it's HP, which takes care of #3, but also quite long so that's #6). I started thinking about it and then I either have to write it out or talk it out and if you talk out loud to yourself on the subway it can annoy others, so I had to write it out as soon as I got home. Now I can wash my face. Phew!

From: [identity profile] chresimos.livejournal.com

Eh, I know what you mean. I often think in the form of, say, essays, or at least like I'm narrating something to someone - problem is I'm usually to lazily to make it coherent enough to post.

But, your posts are always great to read! That's the problem, you see...I'll get sucked into the discussion and reading all the comments and things, and I know that takes time. :) And, also, often I'll read your posts and just have nothing to say....so. *shrug*

1. When did you first "friend" me?
2. Why did you first "friend" me?

1 & 2 are related. A couple of months ago, though I've been reading your journal and various posts in FAP, Nraged, etc. for well over a year, way before I got an lj account.

3. What posts of mine do you like to read the best?

Draco. Pretty much anything you write analyzing the characters.

4. What would you like me to write about that I don't?

Hmm, scratching head, Tom Felton? runs and hides

5. Do you think we would be friends in real life?

Um, gulp, I'd like to think so, but you'd probably go out of your way to avoid me, am very boring.

6. How often do you read my journal?

Your on my Friends List, so whenever you post anything new on your journal, Snarkery, Trip Jinx, or other journals I lurk at.

7. What do we have in common?

Draco. The Slytherins. H/D..

8. Will you post this in your journal so I can answer?

Um, no. I rarely do memes, mostly just post pics of celebrities and some comments about movies.

9. If I were an HP character, who would I be?

My first reaction was Draco Malfoy, but the more I thought about the more I thought I was insane. How about Phineas? Intelligent, wise, sarcastic and ultmately, caring.

LOL! I love Tom Felton! I don't know all that much about him, but every little snippet that comes my way makes me want to ruffle his hair (if he has any at the moment). I secretly and not so secretly hope he goes on to have a long and successful career as a quirky actor.

I would so love to be Phineas. He was like a gift straight to me in OotP.:D

Thanks!!
